Course Summary

We all live in society – why would you not want to understand it better? If you are the sort of person who doesn’t necessarily follow the crowd but is fascinated by behaviour then Sociology is for you. If you have a curiosity about the world around you then the subject will certainly have plenty to keep you interested.

Sociology looks at how the pieces of society fit together and how schools, religion and laws interconnect, control and influence human life.

Your next steps...

Sociology prepares students for a lifetime of change and an appreciation of the diversity of the social world. Many Sociology students go on to higher and further education to study social sciences. Others will go on to careers in the public services, business, media, politics, research, education or health services. Increasingly social science students are valued by business and industry for the wealth of transferable skills they learn as part of their studies.
