Course Summary

Further Mathematics is highly demanding and only a few students are capable of studying the course. If you love mathematics, want to study it at university and can handle the pace, Further Mathematics is an enjoyable and highly valued A-Level.

Course Details

Further Mathematics is an extension of A Level Mathematics. To study Further Mathematics, you must also be studying A Level Mathematics. Students will study four additional units, two of them being Core Pure, two optional units Decision 1 and 2.

Exams at the end of 2 years

Entry requirements

Grade 8-9 in GCSE Mathematics

Although not essential, AQA GCSE Further Mathematics or the Edexcel Level 2 Extended Mathematics Certificate, will be useful as this provides a good foundation to the course at A Level. Baseline testing will be carried out in the first few weeks of year 12, to further assess suitability and support students.
