Further Mathematics A Level

Further Mathematics is highly demanding and only a few students are capable of studying the course. If you love mathematics, want to study it at university and can handle the pace, Further Mathematics is an enjoyable and highly valued A-Level.

Further Mathematics is an extension of A Level Mathematics. To study Further Mathematics, you must also be studying A Level Mathematics. Students will study four additional units, two of them being Core Pure, two optional units Decision 1 and 2.

Grade 8-9 in GCSE Mathematics

Although not essential, AQA GCSE Further Mathematics or the Edexcel Level 2 Extended Mathematics Certificate, will be useful as this provides a good foundation to the course at A Level. Baseline testing will be carried out in the first few weeks of year 12, to further assess suitability and support students.

Mathematics and elements in particular of Mathematics are central to the modern work place. Studying Mathematics can lead to careers diverse fields such as Finance, Science and Business.

Further Mathematics prepares students for higher study at the top universities in Mathematics, Science and Engineering.
