Course Summary

Students will study the family, education, crime and deviance, beliefs and society and sociological theories and methods over the course of the two years. Students will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and a critical understanding of contemporary society. This course would suit students who wish to examine the world in which we live in today and how it is changing.

Course Details

The A Level Sociology (AQA) content is taught in 3 topics in preparation for the examinations:

Paper 1 – Education with Theories and Methods

Paper 2 – Topics in Sociology (Families and Households and Beliefs in Society. Paper 2 has optional topics – we chose to study Families and Households and Beliefs in Society.

Paper 3 – Crime and Deviance with Theories and Methods


How will it be delivered and assessed?

There are three exam papers for sociology. Each exam paper is worth 33.3% of their final mark.
