Course Summary
The course is for post-16 learners who want to continue their education through applied learning and who aim to progress to higher education and ultimately to employment, in the enterprise sector. The qualification is equivalent in size to one A Level and aims to provide a coherent introduction to study of the enterprise sector.
Course Details
The Extended Certificate is for learners who are interested in learning about enterprise and entrepreneurship alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses, not necessarily in enterprise-related subjects.
It is designed to be taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate BTEC Nationals or A Levels.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
BTEC Certificate – Unit 1 Enterprise (Internal) and Unit 2 Developing a Marketing Campaign (External – Controlled Assessment)
BTEC Extended Certificate – Unit 3- Personal and Business Finance (External – examination) and Unit 7 – Social Enterprise (Internal)
Entry requirements
VOCATIONAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:- GCSE 4-9 in English Language & Vocational course at Level 2 Merit
SUBJECT SPECIFIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:- GCSE Maths and English Grade 4-9
Your next steps...
Learners who have completed this qualification in a year may progress to further learning at Level 3, for example to a larger size BTEC National in the enterprise sector.
When studied with other qualifications in the study programme, learners can progress into higher education on combined courses.
Learners should always check the entry requirements for degree programmes with the specific higher education providers.
Learners could also progress to Higher Apprenticeships in areas such as business administration, marketing, accounting, sales or enterprise. The qualification will also give learners the skills to enter the self-employed market.
