Course Summary

BTEC Extended Certificate in Business is a very popular course at Towers Sixth Form. The course explores the dynamic world of business through investigations of real businesses.

Today’s BTEC Nationals are demanding - students will have to choose and complete a range of units; be organised; sit internal and external assessments and keep a portfolio of your assignments. But you can feel proud to achieve a BTEC because, whatever your plans in life – whether you decide to study further, go on to work or an apprenticeship, or set up your own business – your BTEC National will be your passport to success in the next stage of your life.


Course Details

Across the two years, you will complete the following units:

• Business Basics

• Business Finance

• Marketing

• Recruitment and Selection.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment is a combination of assignments set and marked by school, tasks set and marked by Pearson and a written exam set and marked by Pearson (External assessment (58%).

Entry requirements

3-5 GCSEs Grades 4 including English and/or Maths.

Your next steps...

This qualification is useful when pursuing a wide range of careers in the world of business or to go onto higher education at university.

Previous students have gone on to complete apprenticeships in architecture and law as well as study BA (Hons) Business and BA (Hons) Business and Finance at university. Students have also gone on to pursue careers in the retail sector, accountants, estate agents and within the music industry.
