Course Summary

This course is perfect for those wishing to begin a career into the Early Years sector, as a Nursery assistant, playworker or even an Au Pair. You will develop the professional skills and knowledge needed when working with young children, learning how to provide appropriate care, education and play experiences.

Course Details

This course will give learners the knowledge and understanding needed when working with babies and young children from birth to seven years. You will develop the practical and technical skills needed when working with young children to ensure their safety, promote cognitive and emotional development, and create an inclusive and nurturing environment.

The qualification will also allow learners to understand how to manipulate images and explore in detail one of the following areas of photography:

  • Roles and development opportunities in early years settings
  • Child development from birth to seven years
  • Safeguarding babies and young children in early years settings
  • Supporting health and safety in early years settings
  • Promoting wellbeing in early years settings
  • Supporting effective communication in early years settings
  • Supporting activities, purposeful play and educational programmes
  • Supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities
  • Working with parents, colleagues and other professionals in early years settings

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment is through written assignments, professional discussions and work-based assessments.

Your next steps...

Upon successful completion of the course, you can progress onto further study in early years and childcare, or an Apprenticeship. You can also begin your career in an entry level job in the sector such as a nursery practitioner, classroom assistant or pre-school practitioner.
