You can make up to 5 applications to Colleges within the EKC Group, that is:

• EKC Ashford College
• EKC Broadstairs College*
• EKC Canterbury College*
• EKC Dover Technical College
• EKC Folkestone College*
• EKC Sheppey College

*Junior Colleges exist in these locations.

Please only add one course or T Level per application, except for A Levels at EKC Canterbury College, where up to 4 A Level courses can be added per application. At your interview, you and the tutors can discuss the best level and courses in order for you to progress.

Learn the key skills needed to work as a qualified hairdresser and barber, alongside knowledge and theory, supported by highly practical exercises in our salons.

You will learn the basics of the hair industry, as well as the knowledge needed to start your career in a salon. The course also has a strong vocational focus, where you develop your practical skills in the creative art of cutting and dressing men and women?s hair.

Our curriculum covers areas including:

• Cutting techniques
• Colouring techniques
• Styling
• Stock control
• Client interaction
• Health and safety

In our industry standard salons, put your skills into practice on real clients whilst learning from experts in the field. Clients are a mix of genders, allowing you to gain barbering and hairdressing experience throughout the course.

Assessment will take place through practical observations in our salons, as well as with written work and online tests. You will also create a portfolio to display your achievement along the course.

Once you finish your course, you will be ready to start in an entry-level position in the hair and beauty industry. You can also go onto further study in this area, such as a Level 3 qualification, or an Apprenticeship.
