Course Summary
Our one-year UAL Level 3 Diploma in Multimedia Production provides you with hands-on experience in industry-standard production processes, technical skills, and creative development.
You will gain fundamental knowledge essential for navigating the fast-paced media landscape, preparing you for a variety of roles within the industry.
Course Details
In your first year, you will begin by exploring key practices in photography, video, and audio production before specialising in your chosen career pathway for your final graded project.
You will develop core skills to become a creative visual artist, photographer, filmmaker, content creator, designer, or influencer, while also learning to manage and grow your presence across multiple social media platforms—including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and your own website.
Through hands-on projects, you will create multi-platform content tailored to your interests, whether in fashion, music, film genres, documentary storytelling, product promotion, or advertising. Additionally, you will gain experience in video shooting and editing, working with client-led briefs, and developing advertising campaigns, equipping you with the skills needed to thrive in the dynamic media industry.
Explore the Three Stages of Multimedia Production
Throughout the course, you will engage with three key stages of the multimedia production process:
Pre-Production
The foundation of any successful project, this stage focuses on planning and preparation. You will brainstorm ideas, define objectives, create scripts or storyboards, source resources, and organise production schedules to ensure a smooth workflow.
Production
This is where ideas come to life. You will gain hands-on experience capturing video footage, recording audio, shooting photographs, designing graphics, and creating interactive content using professional equipment and industry-standard software.
Post-Production
The final stage involves refining and enhancing your content. You will develop skills in video editing, audio mixing, colour correction, and visual effects, as well as designing printed materials and optimising content for various platforms and devices. This stage also includes adding transitions, titles, and captions to create polished, professional-quality work.
You will study in our multimedia studio and professional workspaces, learning from experienced industry professional lecturers who bring real-world expertise into the classroom. Additionally, guest speakers from the media industry will provide valuable insights into career opportunities and industry trends.
Our course prioritises both academic knowledge and hands-on skill development, preparing you for success in a fast-paced and competitive industry. You’ll also have the chance to collaborate on real-world projects with external partners, including local and national businesses, charities, and community organisations, allowing you to gain valuable professional experience and build an impressive portfolio.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Your progress will be evaluated through a combination of practical projects, reflective evaluations, research, and presentations. You'll receive constructive feedback to help you grow and refine your development. You will present your work in various formats, demonstrating your creativity and technical ability.
Your final grade—Pass, Merit, or Distinction—will be determined by a Final Major Project, where you will showcase your expertise and development throughout the course.
Your next steps...
Progress to higher education at a range of universities and prestigious film/media schools across the country and the world.
You could also go onto a specialised apprenticeship or start your professional career in several roles based on your interests and strengths.
