Course Summary

Course Details

Students explore a wide range of contemporary global issues through the study of both physical and human geography. The course focuses on the inter-relationships between people and the environment, helping students develop a strong understanding of places, processes, and global challenges. The course is divided into three key areas. Physical Geography covers topics such as glacial landscapes, water and carbon cycles, and natural hazards. Human Geography explores changing places, global governance, and the relationship between population and the environment. The third component is a Non-Examined Assessment (NEA)—an independent geographical investigation on a topic of the student’s choice.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment consists of three external exams worth 80% of the final grade, with the NEA making up the remaining 20%. Grades are awarded from A* to E.
