Course Summary

A Level History consists of 4 topics which are studied over the 2 years. All students will study the examined units from Year 12 having 3 lessons per fortnight in each topic. In Year 13, students will also complete the Coursework element of the specification. Students will study Route C of the Edexcel A Level specification and course 37.2 for Paper 3. History complements many other A Level courses such as Philosophy and Ethics, Sociology and English. All the teachers are experienced and passionate for the topics they teach.



Course Details

Paper 1 - Britain 1625 - 1701: This focuses on the issues of revolution of the Stuart periods.

Paper 2 - Russia in Revolution 1894 - 1924: This focuses on fall of Romanovs and the role of revolution in creating the new systems of governments.

Paper 3 - Germany 1871 - 1991 - United, Divided and Reunited: This focuses on unification of Germany, issues through the Weimar and Nazi years and division of Germany throughout the Cold War period.

Coursework - Independent work based on concepts of Cold War.

Paper 1, Paper 2 and Paper 3 are examined at the end of Year 13. The overall grade also includes the coursework mark. Paper 1 and Paper 3 are 2 hours and 15 minutes each. Paper 2 is 1 hour and 30 minutes.

A Grade 5 and above at GCSE History or a Grade 5 in English or other relevant subject.
