Course Summary
Our Learning for Life courses enable students to develop their independent living skills, to prepare them for adulthood and later life.
Course Details
Students learn within our Foundation and Inclusive learning department. Our facilities include a realistic flat environment, preparing our students for life in the home, as well as teaching them valuable skills.
Skills learnt through this course include:
- Care
- Safety within the home
- Shopping
- Cooking
- Community skills
- Travel Training
- Health and wellbeing
- Fitness
- Personal safety
- Social skills
Students also undertake a work experience placement which will either be based in college or in the local community. Once a term we set new individualised targets to monitor and review students’ progress in these areas.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
The course is personalised to each student using a baseline assessment. Students will create a portfolio of evidence to support their skill building throughout the course.
Your next steps...
This course can lead to students progressing into supported living, in partnership with adult social care.
Students who demonstrate continued progression in their individual targets can go onto our Skills for Work and LEAP courses or be able to learn skills for work.
