Chelsea FC and Kent Crusaders Basketball Instructions:

Students must choose three (3) different subject options from three different Option Blocks (you cannot choose the same subject more than once). If a student is selecting the Chelsea FC or Kent Crusaders options, they will need to pick 3 A Levels/BTECS to study alongside this. Students should ensure they are predicted or have achieved grades that meet the entry criteria for chosen options by consulting the UKAT Sixth Form Course booklet. The blocking structure can be amended dependent on course sign up and other timetabling factors.

Course Summary


Course Details

Students gain an in-depth understanding of political systems, ideologies, and global issues. It is ideal for those interested in current affairs, political debate, and how decisions that shape our world are made.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

The course is divided into three components. In Component 1: UK Politics, students explore political participation through topics such as democracy, political parties, electoral systems, voting behaviour, and the media. They will also study key political ideologies including conservatism, liberalism, and socialism. Component 2: UK Government focuses on the structure and function of the UK political system, including the constitution, Parliament, the Prime Minister and the executive, and the relationships between the branches of government. Students will also explore an optional political idea, with feminism commonly studied. Component 3: International Relations broadens the scope to global politics, covering themes such as sovereignty, globalisation, global governance (political, economic, and environmental), human rights, power, regionalism, and the role of the European Union. Each component is assessed through a two-hour written examination. Grades awarded are A*-E..
