Course Summary

Our Step for Work courses prepare students for employment as well as increase their confidence and social skills. The course is accredited and students will gain an Entry 3 Certificate in Progression into Employment.

Course Details

Students learn within our Foundation and Inclusive learning department. The curriculum has been designed to give students the skills they need to go into employment, with Maths and English also focused on in the course.

Skills learnt through this course include:

  • Confidence
  • Speaking to audiences
  • Communication
  • Teamwork
  • Maths
  • English

Students also undertake a work experience placement one or two days per week, which will either be based in college or in the local community. Once a term we set new individualised targets to monitor and review students’ progress in these areas.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Students will create a portfolio of evidence to support their skill building throughout the course. Assessment is through observation and written work.
