Course Summary

Course Details

Students have the opportunity to explore a range of techniques, processes, and materials linked to art, fashion, and textile design. Students work across different areas such as printed and dyed textiles, constructed or installed textiles, fashion design, and expressive textile art. They develop an understanding of how textile pieces can communicate feelings and meanings, influenced by social, cultural, and environmental contexts. The course encourages a personal and creative approach, allowing students to explore their own ideas while gaining knowledge of relevant artists, designers, and techniques. It helps students become confident in manipulating fibres and fabrics to produce innovative and meaningful outcomes.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment is based on two components: a Personal Investigation (coursework) worth 60%, and a Controlled Assignment worth 40%. Both are internally assessed and externally moderated, focusing on four key assessment objectives. Grades awarded are A*-E.

Entry requirements

A Levels: 5 GCSEs at grade 5-9, including English and mathematics and a grade 6 or level 2 merit in Art or Textiles
